Sukhothai, means Dawn of Happiness, 427 km (267 miles) north of Bangkok and was founded in the year 1238 A.D. Sukhothai, was the first Kingdom of the Thais in this Peninsula.  There were a total of eight Kings ruled Sukhothai, the Thailand s first great King was Pho Khun Ramkhamhaeng.  A major achievement of King Ramkhamhaeng was the revision of various forms of Khmer alphabets into a system suitable for the writing of Thai words.  The alphabet that he invented in 1283 was essentially the same as that in use today.  He also promoted religion and culture through his efforts, Buddhism made headway among the people.  In spirational faith gave birth to classic forms of Thai religious arts.  Images of the Lord Buddha sculpture during the Sukhothai Era are cultural treasures which impart a feeling of peace and serenity.

Sri Satchanalai Historical Park, its ruins lie on the right bank of the Yom River, one of the best examples of a Thai muang, it was laid out along fixed cosmological lines – temple complexes lay at its heart, surrounded by city walls, rivers and forest.  It is considered by many historians to be the apogee of Thai city planning.

Ruin of Old Celadon Factor, a site where Sukhothai celadons were made. Each kiln is divided into 3 sections: the fire area, the pottery baking oven and the flue. The pottery found here is usually decorated by 3 different painted designs on their bottom: a disc, a fish and a flower. Fort-nine kilns and small edifices are visible. To the north a pond has been dug into stone.

At 05.00 am, our tour guide in purple and navy blue uniform will meet and greet at the hotel lobby.  Depart hotel for Sukhothai by PG 211 (07.00 – 08.20) in Economy Class, arrive Sukhothai, the first Kingdom of Thais in this Peninsula and established it as the capital in 1238 for 120 years.

The first visit at Sri Satchanalai Historical Park on the bank of Yom River, 50 Kilometers or 1 hour drives.  This ancient town formerly called “Muang Chaliang” was named “Sri Satchanalai” during the reign of Phra Ruang Dynasty when new administrative center was established to replace Chaliang.  Ruins of 134 monuments have been discovered within this park.

The next visit Sukhothai Historical Park, the ruins of the Royal Palaces, Buddhist temples, the city gates, walls, moats, dams, ditches, ponds canals and the water dyke control system which was the magical and spiritual center of the Kingdom are now preserved and restored by the Fine Arts Department with the cooperation of UNESCO, not only with a view of fostering Thailand’s national identity but of safeguarding in fine example of mankind’s cultural heritage. At 16.00 hours, arrive airport for smooth flight to Bangkok by PG 214 (17.10 – 18.30) in Economy Class and enjoy the scenery of the countryside and embroider the impression you could bring back home. Arrive Bangkok and transfer to your hotel.
