Visit the most famous Grand Palace, no one could miss while traveling in Thailand. The Grand Palace, This magnificent complex of buildings was begun by King Rama I in 1782, following the pattern used during the Ayutthaya period.  The river formed a moat on one side while the site of Temple of The Emerald Buddha corresponded to that of Wat Phra Si Sanphet, a chief temple of Ayutthaya.  The palace contains a number of halls, residences, pavilions and other historically significant buildings. The Emerald Buddha Temple, or Wat Phra Kaeo, adjoining the Grand Palace is a truly dazzling sight with its glittering spires and vivid statuary.  Not only is this a most sacred site, it also surely qualifies as one of the Wonders of the World.  The Jade Emerald Buddha image stands on an altar 11 meters tall and is protected by a nine-tier umbrella.  The Main Chapel, or “Ubosot”, is elaborately decorated.

Temple of The Reclining Buddha, or Wat Pho, the World famous temple is one of Bangkok’s oldest and largest temples.  Wat Pho was built by King Rama I,  200 years ago and houses the gigantic gold plated Reclining Buddha.  This unique image is 46 meters in length and 15 meters high with beautifully inlaid mother of pearl soles.  Wat Pho is also regarded as the first center of public education and is sometimes called “Thailand’s First University”.

Temple of The Golden Buddha, or Wat Traimit is known for its famous Golden Buddha, constructed during the Sukhothai period. The image of solid gold is 3 meters high and weighs 5.5 tons. The image covered by stucco for more than 700 years.  In 1955 stucco cracked by an accident and revealed the underneath a Buddha of solid gold.
